Our partners live by a code of ethics. We hold ourselves to the same standards.
Our ethical framework governs which organizations we work with, how we conduct our business, and what we commit to publicly as a firm.

Who We Work With
Our values matter to us, and we want to ensure we support them in our partnerships. We look for alignment — not just a financial fit. Before we begin an engagement, we require that all potential partners:
Hold an active nonprofit status with the IRS
Operate with a mission that serves the public good without causing harm to any group or population
Demonstrate financial stewardship aligned with the AFP Code of Ethics, including the prohibition on percentage-based compensation
Have leadership that is willing to engage in a genuine, collaborative partnership
We decline to work with organizations whose practices, mission, or leadership do not meet these standards — regardless of budget or engagement potential.
AFP Code of Ethics
Brighter Futures adheres to the Association of Fundraising Professionals Code of Ethics in all partnership work. This includes an absolute prohibition on percentage-based fundraising compensation, which creates conflicts of interest incompatible with donor trust.
Confidentiality
Partner relationships, fundraising data, donor information, and strategic plans are held in strict confidence. Brighter Futures does not disclose partnerships, share work product, or reference partner organizations without written authorization.
Pro Bono Commitment
Brighter Futures commits ten percent of its annual billable capacity to pro bono or reduced-fee partnerships with small, community-led organizations that could not otherwise access this level of support. This commitment is tracked internally and reported annually.
Public Benefit
Brighter Futures is committed to making a meaningful difference in the communities we serve. That’s why we prioritize public benefit alongside financial performance. This framework holds us accountable to the values we articulate here.
What This Means for our Partners
When you work with Brighter Futures, you are working with a firm that has chosen its partners carefully — which means the organizations in our portfolio reflect a standard of mission integrity that we stand behind. You will never wonder whether your fundraising partner has a conflict of interest, a hidden agenda, or a business roster that contradicts your values.
